New Orleans | Orpheum Theater • Covington | First Baptist Church
Guest conductor Karina Canellakis returns to the LPO in a concert teeming with drama and excitement. Full of the danger and optimism of a maritime adventure, Mendelssohn’s Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage is the perfect overture for Richard Strauss’ heroic Horn Concerto No.1, played by the LPO’s Principal Hornist, Mollie Pate. Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, “Pathétique” brings this concert of Romantic greats to a dramatic, impassioned close.
