The Fantastical Imagination
New Orleans | Orpheum Theater
Let your imagination run wild with this mystical concert. Nathan Bates’ Anthology of Fantastic Zoology, a setting of Jorge Luis Broges’ book by the same name, starts the program. Bates’ piece depicts a journey through the forest with specific movements depicting all sorts of creatures, some familiar, some of Borges’ own invention. The end of this journey brings us to The Infant Minstrel and His Peculiar Menagerie by Lera Auerbach, featuring violinist Vladim Gluzman and NOVA Masterworks. This entertaining piece has been charming audiences since its premiere in 2016.
