Old American Songs and Spirituals
New Orleans | Orpheum Theater
The LPO celebrates America’s traditional songs and spirituals starting with a suite of Weill’s Threepenny Opera. American composers are well represented with Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs and a suite of Scott Joplin’s ragtime-influenced Treemonisha. The New Orleans Black Chorale and Xavier University Chorus end the concert with an emotional finale of various traditional spirituals.
