While the world may never know the secret hidden within Elgar’s Enigma Variations, the work remains one of the most beloved pieces of the orchestral repertoire. The program opens with John Adams’ energetic foxtrot for orchestra, The Chairman Dances, followed by Sibelius’ Violin Concerto with guest violinist Benjamin Beilman – a work that reflected the composer’s early desire to become a violin virtuoso.

ADAMS: The Chairman Dances
SIBELIUS: Violin Concerto
ELGAR: Enigma Variations
